Vistry Group sending team on Vietnam challenge for SSAFA
14 October 2024
Vistry Group, the UK’s leading mixed tenure housebuilder, is sending a team of employees on the SSAFA Vietnam Trek from 21-30 October to raise funds for the Armed Forces charity.
Vistry has a year-long partnership with SSAFA, with a target of raising £270,000 for the charity. They are well on their way already, and with several of their employees set to trek in Vietnam, they continue to make great progress towards their goal. The trek itself will start in beautiful Hanoi before heading to the surrounding hills and mountains of the stunning Hoa Binh Province.
One of these participants is Ben Graham from Warwickshire, a Design and Planning Manager for Vistry, with 25 years of experience in the construction industry. A serving Army Reservist, both of Ben’s grandparents served in WW2, with one being awarded the Maltese Cross for bravery during his time in the Royal Navy.
Ben has been looking forward to a challenge like this for a long while: “I’m a keen hiker and love the outdoors, so when I heard about this challenge and a chance to visit Vietnam, it was the perfect opportunity. I previously attempted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, but unfortunately fell ill with typhoid fever and malaria and couldn’t finish. Hopefully this time goes better!”
Another participant is Steven Collis from Hampshire, a Senior Technical Manager with 35 years’ experience in construction himself. Steven has no personal connection to the Armed Forces and has never attempted a challenge like the Vietnam Trek, but he could not pass up the opportunity for the trip of a lifetime for a great cause.
